Carl Zeiss Vision Expands Customized Lens Line
with Release of Compact ULTRA™ HD

Carl Zeiss Vision has extended its offering of direct-surface customized lenses by adding SOLA Compact ULTRA™ HD in 1.67 clear and Transitions® Gray. In total, Carl Zeiss Vision offers one of the most complete lines of branded, customized lens designs, including ZEISS Individual, SOLAOne™ HD, Compact ULTRA HD and AO Easy HD, to satisfy the full range of patient and practice needs.

An advanced short-corridor progressive lens design, Compact ULTRA features a low 13mm minimum fitting height that allows progressive wearers to select from a wider variety of smaller, fashionable frames.  This fitting height is made possible by a revolutionary corridor design that delivers unsurpassed reading area at all fitting heights. The Compact ULTRA design also offers excellent binocularity, low skew distortion, and peak astigmatism that is lower than many leading short-corridor progressive lenses.

Compact ULTRA HD offers the benefits of semi-finished Compact ULTRA, but uses direct surfacing and a sophisticated design approach to customize the lens surface for all aspects of the individual patient’s prescription.  “The HD customization approach assures that each wearer gets the best possible vision from his or her lenses,” said Steve Mitrakos, Carl Zeiss Vision’s Vice President, Marketing and Strategy.  “Eye care professionals can be confident that Compact ULTRA HD will give patients the best realization of the lens design: the largest possible areas of clear vision with the lowest levels of unwanted astigmatism.”

Compact ULTRA HD is available in 1.67 clear and Transitions® Gray lenses, and includes premium AR coating.

Carl Zeiss Vision has recently expanded Compact ULTRA’s semi-finished material availability to include Transitions Brown in Hard Resin and Polycarbonate.  Compact ULTRA is also available semi-finished in clear and Transitions Gray in 1.67, Polycarbonate and Hard Resin.

Carl Zeiss Vision is a private company held jointly by Carl Zeiss AG and EQT III fund (“EQT”), headquartered in Aalen, Germany, with North American headquarters in San Diego, CA.  Through its ZEISS, SOLA, Teflon® Clear Coat Lenses and American Optical brands, Carl Zeiss Vision works continually to deliver a superior visual experience to wearers and growth to the optical industry.
