FGX
International Recalls Children's
Sunwear due to Lead Paint Fears
In
cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission, FGX International has voluntarily recalled
certain styles of its children's sunglasses--representing
about 25 percent of its children's sunwear line-- following
the discovery that some contained lead paint in excess of
allowable limits.
FGX said it has received no reports of injury from these
products. These styles were distributed in the U.S., Canada
and Europe (predominantly in the U.K.). The testing that led
to this discovery was voluntarily undertaken by the FGX,
according to a company statement.
The
statement said FGX estimates the sales of these children's
sunglasses will represent less than 1 percent of its total
revenue for 2007; the recall does not affect any sunglasses
in the company's baby line.
