John Ferro has been
appointed chief executive officer of contact lens
supplier WaveTouch Technologies. In his new role, he
will be responsible for the commercialization of the
company’s wavefront-guided contact lens programs.
Also at WaveTouch, industry veteran Kevin Bligh,
a founder of the company, has been appointed executive
vice president. Malcolm McLaughlin, another
WaveTouch founder, continues as chief financial
officer. |

David Desjardins has been named
the new president of SEE, Inc., the 20-unit
Birmingham, Michigan based eyewear retailer.
Desjardins will report directly to SEE founder and
CEO, Richard Golden, and will be responsible
for overseeing both field and internal operations.
Most recently, Desjardins held the position of Chief
Stores Officer for dELiA*s, Inc. and joins SEE with
over 20 years of corporate experience.

American Optometric Association

The American Optometric Association has
appointed prominent health policy expert and educator Barry
J. Barresi, O.D., Ph.D., to serve as executive director
of the 34,000-member organization, effective July 1. Dr.
Barresi is currently president of the New England Eye
Institute and vice president of clinical affairs at New
England College of Optometry. He replaces Michael D.
Jones, O.D., who is retiring on June 30, after serving
as AOA’s executive director for 10 years.

New Look Eyewear

Martial Gagne has taken over as
president of New Look Eyewear, the operating subsidiary of
Benvest New Look Income Fund that operates about 50 optical
stores in Quebec and Ontario. Gagne, formerly New Look’s
senior vice president and chief operating officer, has been
with the company since 2001; in his new role he will be
responsible for the chain’s day-to-day operations and
principal activities.

David M. Pearce, NCLEC, president
of Responsible Marketing Consulting Services will be
presenting a COPE approved 2-hour CE course titled, “Over
the Top: Improving Patient Satisfaction,” at SECO on
Friday, February 29 at 8:00 am. The course is designed to
give ECP’s an understanding of how to differentiate their
practice in a competitive market to achieve higher sales per
patient, increased penetration of premium products, and
improved patient satisfaction.
