Eyal Hayardeny has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Shamir Optical Industry, effective April 2, 2008. Hayardeny, who currently serves as Shamir's executive vice president and vice president of business development, replaces
Giora Ben-Ze'ev, who shall continue to serve the company as vice chairman of the board of directors and as director of strategic projects. Hayardeny joined Shamir as an executive vice president and vice president of business development in 2005. From 1994 to 1998, he worked at Somekh Chaikin's (KPMG) economic department. From 1991 to 1994, he served as a budget officer in the IDF's chief of staff financial consultant unit. |

Alex Incera has been appointed general manager of Gerber Coburn, a unit of Gerber Scientific. In this role, he will be responsible for the unit's worldwide business operations. Incera joined the business unit as project manager in 1995 and was promoted to director of engineering in 1996. In 1999, he became vice president of engineering, leading the research and development efforts of such products as the Eclipse Surface Blocker and DTL Generator. He was appointed executive director of marketing in 2006. |

Paul H. Sartori, Ph.D., has joined Bausch & Lomb as corporate vice president and chief human resources officer. Dr. Sartori has more than two decades of experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries. Most recently, he was senior vice president of organizational development and human resources for Boston-based BioTrove, Inc. From 2000 to 2007, he was a partner and principal at CHM Partners International, LLC, the international executive search and management consulting firm. |

Victor Connors, O.D. has been named Chair of the global fundraising organization Optometry Giving Sight's National Committee in the United States. Dr. Connors currently serves as a member of the Optometry Giving Sight Global board, which oversees Optometry Giving Sight fundraising efforts in 4 countries. He is also the Immediate Past President of the World Council of Optometry, which represents 76 countries and over 250,000 optometrists. |

Wilburn (Bill) Lord, Jr.,
O.D., a practicing optometrist in Greenville and
Rolling Fork, Mississippi, has been appointed incoming
SECO President. Dr. Lord has served in the capacity of
president-elect since the 2007 SECO Congress and
assumed presidency during the annual House of
Delegates meeting held Feb. 29 during SECO 2008. Dr.
Lord was first elected as an officer to the SECO
International Executive Committee in 2002, serving as
a Mississippi Trustee. In 2004, he was elected to the
position of secretary, and then served subsequently as
treasurer and vice president. |
Reed Exhibitions
Val Scott has been promoted by Reed Exhibitions to vice president of strategic accounts from her current position as director. In her new position, Scott will add top eyecare retailers to the portfolio of clients that she currently services. She began her career at Reed in 1995 as a part time sales temp working on International Vision Expo. She quickly rose through the ranks to become a full-time sales executive and eventually went on to become national account manager. For the past six years, she has held the position of director of strategic accounts.
