What is your method for selecting which frame suits a particular patient?
To accommodate a patient's needs, I ask several questions about their lifestyle and how they plan to use their glasses before we begin picking a frame. I see frames as not only a medical device, but also as an accessory. I try to introduce patients to fresh colors, shapes, and designs to highlight their best features.
Do you dispense more silicone or non-silicone contact lenses?
Definitely silicone. They retain their moisture, have better oxygen transmission, and overall are healthier compared to non-silicone contact lenses. We find most patients are happy with silicone, but we still dispense non-silicone lenses.

What does the future hold for the Independent dispenser?
As long as customer service is high in all areas of the office, the future looks bright!
Independent dispensers provide personal service that is appreciated by the patient.
What progressive lens do you dispense most often?
I dispense different lenses depending on the needs of the patient. Currently our stores primary progressive lens is the Zeiss GT2.
What are your thoughts on MD's opening more dispensaries in the future?
Attracting more consumers into our market is always a good thing. It's great that patients have more options.
Do you find it easier to convert traditional bifocals wearers to the new PAL designs?
Patients who understand the limitations of PALs at the time of sale are far more successful at the time of dispense. The PAL provides better adaptability by the patient, better fit in small stylish frames, and a larger reading area in small frames as well.
